The Smoky Mountain High School Mustangs had a good night going Tuesday with wins over Brevard in Girls and Boys JV Action. However the girls varsity ran into a wall with the Brevard Lady Blue Devils who were able to control the game tempo and aided by the officiating crew who called an extremely tight game which kept the Lady Mustangs out of sync for most of the game. Shay Sutton was the most successful Mustang with eight of ten from the free throw line and scored her only additional points on a lay-up. Natalie Parris was limited to eight points where she normally averages between 12 and 15 points, Eliza McCulley had 13 points which is near her average. Brevard made 27 trips to the foul line. Tristen Bell was five of seven in the fourth quarter, Hannah Cabe was five of seven in the second half and Cassidee Cali was three of eight in the entire game. The Blue Devils outscored the Mustangs 18 to five in the fourth quarter. The final score was 45 to 37. This was the Lady Mustangs first conference loss and dropped their record to 10 and 6 and 3 and 1 in the conference. Brevard improved to 2 and 2 in conference play.
