Two teenage males who were reported missing by family Monday afternoon have been located.
Two males, 14 and 15, who were visiting Western North Carolina from Rock Hill, South Carolina separated from family and friends during a camping stay at Ivestor Gap in the Shining Rock Wilderness in Pisgah National Forest.
Representatives with Haywood County Emergency Management, the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, the Search and Rescue Team and the Cruso Fire Department were deployed to find the missing individuals. Both were found uninjured late Monday afternoon. They were located about five miles North West from their original camping spot. Members of the Search and Rescue team found the subjects near Camp Daniel Boone, which is located just past the Lake Logan Fire Department off NC 215.
“The search effort was brought to a positive outcome because of the unified effort of all these agencies,” said Haywood County Director of Emergency Management, Greg Shuping. “The fall season is now here and people need to remember that while this area is a beautiful, it can be a dangerous place. Be prepared and make sure to stay with your group.”
