Lady Mustangs Add Soccer Win Over Tuscola

Wednesday the Tuscola Lady Mountaineers faced the Smoky Mountain Lady Mustangs with a recent penalty kick for a 2 to 2 overtime win on their mind. The Lady Mountaineers escaped a couple of close calls but there were no conference losses on their record. The Lady Mustangs having suffered through the overtime loss to Tuscola and a 4 to 0 loss to Franklin still showed a conference best 14 and 2 overall record knew the importance of getting a win over their Haywood County rivals on Wednesday.  The Lady Mustangs got the 2 to 1 win and remain one game behind Tuscola with four conference games left.  Short of an upset the Lady Mustangs can finish the season with an 18 to 2 record. Their next home game will be against East Henderson (7-5-2) on Monday. They will travel to Brevard (7 and 7) then the next to the last season game will be against Pisgah (2-10) and the Lady Mustangs close the season May 3rd at home against 0 and 12 North Henderson. The Lady Mustangs soccer team is ranked seventh in the state in the 2-A division and second in the conference one game behind Tuscola.  Support the Lady Mustangs at home on Monday.
