In the early morning hours of January 23, 2017 deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office took, Jess Harvey Cagle into custody and charged him with several crimes related to assaulting and kidnapping people at a residence in the Savannah Community of Jackson County.
Cagle, who had been staying at the residence for several days, became extremely agitated during the evening of January 22, 2017. Cagle had made threats to harm law enforcement and any other people who tried to come into the home or anyone who tried to leave the home. Victims inside the residence were able to lock themselves inside a bedroom after an altercation with Cagle involving a knife. The victims were able to stay in communication with deputies through text messages until the Sheriff’s Emergency Tactical Team was able to enter the home and take Cagle into custody without injury.
Victims in the home were found safe and without injuries as well. West Care EMS assisted the Sheriff’s Office when Cagle was taken into custody.
Cagle is charged with:
Second Degree Kidnapping, 3 counts; Communicating Threats, 3 counts; Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 1 count. He is being held on a $150,000 secure bond
