A Buncombe County Grand Jury on Monday indicted Robert Jason Owens with first-degree murder in the death of Zebb Wayne Quinn on Jan. 2, 2000. This indictment is the result of years of investigative work and persistence by detectives of the Asheville Police Department, as well as ongoing partnerships with members of the Quinn family and the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office according to an Asheville Police Department press release.
Owens is currently serving an active prison sentence for the murders of Cristie and JT Codd and their unborn child. Cristie was a contestant on a Food network show and was considered a celebrity chef.
Quinn went missing on January 2, 2000, in Asheville. Quinn was 18 years old and working at a Walmart in Asheville when he disappeared.
Owens was last seen with Quinn on security footage at a convenience store. He claims Quinn received a page and needed to make a phone call. The two parted ways according to Owens.
