Free Rafting Day Hosted On May 23rd

Dillsboro River Company hosted its annual Free Rafting Day on Sunday, May 23. Rafters received a free self-guided trip down the Tuckasegee River with a donation of 10 cans of food for the food pantry at United Christian Ministries. This annual event is a popular start-of-the-season event for area residents and tourists. Almost 200 people floated down the Tuckasegee in rafts during this 4 hour event. United Christian Ministries received over 1900 cans of food! This event is a wonderful boost to UCM’s pantry at the start of summer, which is a crucial time for the food pantry as students get out of school and no longer receive free lunches.
