The Green-way along the Tuckasegee River in the Rolling Green and Cullowhee took another step forward Monday when the Jackson County Commissioners agreed to sign off on a contract with Lofquist and associates for design work on the footbridge bridge and additional upgrades to the currently available green-way space. On Monday Commission Chairman Jack Debnam commented to his fellow commissioners about a recent visit to the site. The 2.2 mile green-way has received site improvements with grading and other maintenance and will soon be receiving some additional aggregate for the trail foundation. It has not been yet decided about the paving of the green-way but is an excellent walking path with the composition as it now is. It is expected the footbridge design will be finished in time for the spring bidding process. The green-way has received funding from several grants and local government funding matches.
