Swain County Schools
Swain County Schools Food and Nutrition Director Jennifer Brown is stepping down. Brown will leave her position with Swain County Schools in February. She will be moving to a role with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as Regional Nutrition Program Specialist. Specifically, her new job will be to provide consultation, guidance, technical assistance, and other support to School Food Authorities that will participate in the Federally assisted School Nutrition Programs administered by the Department of Public Instruction throughout the 19 counties of Western North Carolina.
Brown has been Food and Nutrition Director of Swain County Schools for the past nine years. During that time, she has overseen numerous projects that have benefited not only the students of Swain County Schools, but the communities in Swain County as well. Brown was the driving force behind the community feeding program during the early stages of the COVID pandemic. She was also critical in securing grant monies that benefited the students of Swain County during her nine years. Brown has also overseen upgrades to each of the cafeterias in the Swain County School System.
