The North Carolina Department of Commerce has released the seasonally adjusted unemployment numbers for the month of July 2019. In Jackson County, For July of 2019, the unemployment rate was 4.6%, which is a .1% drop from June’s 4.7%. Compared to July of 2019, Jackson County’s unemployment rate increased by .4% from last year’s 4.2%. Swain County also saw a decrease over the month and an increase from last year. Swain County’s unemployment rate for July of 2019 was 3.9%, which is a .3% decrease from June’s 4.2%. Compared to July of 2018, the unemployment rate has increased by .1% from last year’s 3.8%.
