An accident in Haywood County on Highway 276 occurred around noon Friday claiming the life of at least one individual and one horse after a Ford Ranger truck hit the back of a wagon train that’s been a long-standing tradition on Labor Day.
The accident occurred in front of Pride Resort at 4394 Jonathan Creek Road in Maggie Valley. There were multiple injuries to both people and horses.
Multiple emergency responders and veterinarians were at the accident scene caring for the victims.
The driver was described as being tall, slender man in his late 20s or 30s, and was driving a late model ford ranger. No names have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
