RALEIGH -- The Raleigh City Council voted unanimously to approve the $52 million contract to buy the more than 300 acre Dorothea Dix property from the state. Senate Republicans filed a bill to block the deal.
RALEIGH - Gov. Pat McCrory is up for reelection in 2016 and while he hasn't announced his candidacy, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper appears to be a favored candidate for state Democrats. RALEIGH - As the weather is getting better, the state Department of Transportation is organizing National Bike to School Day to help students and teachers get to their schools safely. Ed Johnson, Safe Routes coordinator, says the hope is to promote the benefits of biking or walking to school instead of driving.
