A Guy Who Cut Off His Own Arm Lied About Being a Wounded Vet to Get Acting Jobs

A New Mexico actor named Todd LaTourrette has forged a small but respectable career, despite losing his right arm in the service of our country almost 20 years ago.

He’s appeared in the Toby Keith movie “Beer for My Horses”, the George Clooney war movie “The Men Who Stare at Goats”, and on episodes of “Longmire” and “Better Call Saul”.

There’s just one problem:  He’s not a wounded veteran.

He’s bipolar, and he actually CUT OFF HIS OWN ARM.  And he’s been lying about it to get work.

But now he’s finally fessing up.  He told an Albuquerque TV station, quote, “I severed my hand with a skill saw . . . [during] a psychotic episode.”

He knows he’s killing his career, and he doesn’t care.  He just wants to do the right thing . . . and also help others who are struggling with mental illness.

He says, quote, “The power is in your hands to take your medication in the morning, or at night.  So that, this, this discourse of my life doesn’t need to necessarily be yours.  Because, it happens quick . . . it happens quick.”
